Hyundai is gearing up to introduce a new SUV for the Indian market, and its first road test sighting in Mumbai has already sparked interest.
A heavily camouflaged prototype was recently spotted on public roads, and it’s clear that this is an all-new model rather than an update to any existing Hyundai SUV.
The test vehicle features a boxy, upright stance with a more rugged look than Hyundai’s current offerings. Design highlights visible through the camouflage include circular wheel arches, roof rails, flush-fitting door handles, a shark-fin antenna, and a chunky rear bumper.

Two test mules were seen together, likely indicating different variants, as one wore steel wheels while the other had newly designed alloy wheels.
At the rear, the SUV appears to get slim LED tail lamps with a pixel-style design, similar to Hyundai’s global EV models like the Ioniq 5. Vertically placed reflectors and a prominent roof spoiler add to its tough appearance. Large ORVMs with cameras mounted underneath hint at premium features such as a 360-degree camera and possibly Level 2 ADAS.

Interior details remain undisclosed, but reports suggest a large touchscreen infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster. The absence of a visible exhaust has led to speculation that this could be a compact electric SUV, possibly the localized EV Hyundai teased during its investor presentation last year.
More details are expected as testing continues, and this new SUV could play an important role in Hyundai’s future India lineup.
